6" pro-comp suspension lift and 3" body lift on a 96 2door. is there any way that 38x15.5 tires would fit? if so i think i might run 15s on this thing. would it be a 15x10 wheel? if it would work i think it would be NASTY.

why?
The wide tires cause problems and do go for crap in the mud... just do a set of 37. 12.50's or go crazy and roll some 38 10.50 boggers on a 8 or 9 inch wheels.

15.5 on a 10 wide wheel may require some body clearancing at full compression. but Kerr makes a valid point...

Yes you should be able to clear them with a little trimming and cranking on the torsion bars

sounding more and more like you are going to need a dana 60 upfront and a 14 bolt in the assend

hey im just asking questions about stuff before jumping into anything. im fairly new to the 4wd "scene", ask me something about a fox body or ls1 car lol thats where i was for a decade
a 15" wide tire would look NASTY and im set on Nittos and that was the only size in a 15, so im just gonna run 37x12.5 in 17 (but only because they dont have a 37x13.5 lol)

haha im just givin you a hard time. my buddy has a fox body with a 302? crate motor. it will haul arse. he has a wet shot of nitros on it too. pretty sick cobra

ive had foxes and ls1 trans ams. where i live now there isnt a 1/4 track anywhere close and ive put drag cars on hold for a while, so i figured i might as well build nasty 4wds lol.

ive never seen those. the "Rockers" are pretty cool and they have a decent variety of sizes. i hate to stray from nitto because ive always had good experiences with them but those seem alright. it would be cool to run that in a 37x13.5x15.

anyone have much experience with those Pitbull tires or Interco Iroks?

if i remember correctly we cant rub 15" rims on our trucks. plus good luck finding a rim that had big enough bs that you wont rub.

What do you want to know? They're all right if you like square bias ply tires.
Don't buy a pitbull tire.
If you want swampers, get the new M16's for DD use.
If you want Nitto's, the mud grapplers will always have a special place in my heart, but the new trail grapplers are ****.
And be prepared to be constantly replacing sh1t in the steering.

this is for the 2door, it wont be a DD by any means. its gonna be a toy that sees the street maybe one day a week.

if you wanna 1500 on 37's or wide 38's you might as well straight axle it. especially if its gonna be a mud toy. you'll break something in a heartbeat since i'm sure you wont be going easy on it.

if its just going to fun beat it to **** off road rig. then go with a smaller tire.. say a 33 or 35, do lockers in both end and hammer it.
Huge tires are hard... i bet a 37 inch tirs 90-100 lb..
I cant say much, been the fast car, then retardley fast car that will kill you, to the huge lifted truck with 37's, back to a burb on 33's...
Its a lot more impressive to play with the big boys on small tires

, but as they said if you going to beat it do a 14bolt in the rear and sold axle swap up front.. ive beaten the 90-99 tahoes into the ground with 31-32 inch tires and never broken a front diff... i did destroy a rear end or two..
Its hard for people to suggest things when we dont know what the grand plan it..

thanks Kerr. i am pretty hung up on doing a body lift and 37s so i will start putting back money towards a 14 rear and solid axle swap up front i guess lol. how much would it cost (round about) to swap the front and rear? so you replace the whole rear end but only the axles on front? seems weird. anyone got any info links??

You would probably need a BL to clear the 38s. Dont let anyone tell you that you are going to break crap left and right so you should not do it. IFS is not as weak as people think it is. It will take some abuse. If you dont believe me go on GMFS and look up BubbaZ71Tahoe. OH yea and it has a 6" lift and 3" BL on 38.5

ifs wont hold 38.5's no matter what width.... just save yourself the headache and keep running 35's or step up with an SFA and run whatever you want...

you could go the easy way...
12 pack of beer, and a few sharp saw blades

My buddies at rpm trim the finders on all there dodges and run 37's then again they beat the living **** out of them and ram will clear a lot bigger tire stock...

I think for a weekend toy and a little playing in the mud you will be fine man...I know Bubba and his Tahoe and he has beat the shoot out of it with the 38x15.50's on it and I am pretty sure he hasn't broken anything, but I know he has a 14 bolt...I think if u don't go crazy with cranking the front end and u get the 14 bolt rear that you will be perfectly fine

A SFA completely guts the IFS and replaces it with, well, a solid front axle and either leafs or coils, depending on how you want to set up your suspension. There is a lot more to it as well...steering, body mounts, etc.
Maybe you already knew that, but from your post it sounded like you thought the only thing involved was putting in stronger axle shafts.
