I had a 1996 Z71, it had a bunch of the plastic one-way push pins, man I ALWAYS broke one or two. It looks like the 2002 doesn't have those. That's good news, thanks!

so I got a 2002 model and the power window switch had broken and fallen into the door. I got a new switch $30 at the deal but I can't get the back door (door right behind the driver seat) panel off to replace the switch.

I see only one screw at the bottom of the panel.

any help

sure! first, grab the handle, this is that black thingy that opens the door, move it outta the way(lift it), stick your finger in the hole, and pop that cover off...

then, put your left hand on the 'grab bar', it is the thingy that you hold on to when you close the door, next to that switch...now, look under your hand, where your 'pinky finger' is, there's a recess where a screw goes..i think it's 7mm? K, take that out... now, rub your hand along the edge outside the speaker grille..right at the bottom, there's another screw, same size..remove that..now, lift away! goes straight up! laaaaaaaaaaaters

outstanding,

fixed,

boy GM really hide that second screw and wow!! that's the first panel I've ever removed without breaking something, glad to see GM finally got some engineers to design good stuff.

thanks man, for the help

also, besure to remove the lock panel before you re-install so you can make sure it aligns correctly on the pin.

Thanks Carlos (delcarpioc for the newbies) - your directions just saved my backside.

Note to others -don't use static cling film on your windows. Mine worked for a couple weeks then today after the Burb was sitting in direct sun with the window down for a couple hours it was stuck! Using the directions two posts up I was able to pull the bottom weatherstiping off then get the window to go back up.

Wow - I'm amazed at all of the great info here. I just searched and found this, and am now willing to tackle my drivers side window repair.

FYI, It was getting a little bit on the slow side, and just yesterday, I heard a "snap" or something.... ohmy.gif , and the window was not operating mad.gif . Oh well, it looks like it may be a broken cable in there. I also saw another post with a link to an ebay seller that has powerwindow control units for about $50 plus shipping. Seems like a good deal to me.

Once again.... this site is full of great info!!!! thumbsup.png It's probably gonna save me some big bucks by doing this one myself. Thanks again.

will this procedure give access to the window shafts? I was hoping to clean all the dirt and mud that has accumulated down there but I don't want to take the panel off if it won't give me access.

Front door panel removal for '07:

1. Carefully pull the door lock. Pull straight up.
2. Remove the 3-10 mm screws, 1 behind the door handle (plastic cover) and 2 at the grab handle (rectangular plastic cover). Be gentle removing the covers.
3. Carefully pry up the control panel and disconnect the harnesses.
4. Carefully pry the little triangle at the top of the door panel. Lift up on the door panel. If it doesn't come out, use a door removal tool to pry the clips slightly--starting from the bottom and lift.
5. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to release the door lever rod.
6. Install in reverse order.

You need to remove the door lock (the plastic piece that goes up and down). If you don't, that's the first piece that you'll break off when you try to pull the door panel off....

The inside drivers door handle came loose. Will I need to remove the door panel to re-attach?
