I think we kind of discussed creating this thread at one point, but here are some of the commonly used acronyms for the new members that haven't figured them out.

OBS = Old Body Style (aka-GMT-400, aka ???-2000).
NBS = New Body Style (aka GMT-800, aka 2001-2006 Tahoe/Suburban). Contrast with:
NNBS = New New Body Style (aka GMT-900, aka 2007-present)

GMT-400 = (see OBS)
GMT-800 = (see NBS)
GMT-900 = (see NNBS)

CEL = Check Engine Light
ABS=Anti-Lock Brake System
TC = Traction Control
BCM = Body Control Module (type of vehicle computer)
ECM = Engine Control Module (Type of vehicle computer - handles engine management)
OBDII = Diagnostic interface specification, more specifically, they type of data connection used to plug service tools into the vehicle.
DRL = Daytime Running Light
HID = High Intensity Discharge (Type of lighting system)
TPMS (also TPS) = Tire Pressure Monitoring System
MAF = Mass Air Flow Sensor
EFI = Electronic Fuel Injection
CAI = Cold Air Intake
LED = Light Emitting Diode (Type of bulb)
TB = Throttle Body
DIC = Driver info center
OEM = Original equipment manufacturer
WOT = wide open throttle
RPO = Regular Production Order. [These are the 3 digit codes (found on a sticker in the glove box) GM uses to tell which options are on a specific vehicle. e.g. LS1 or Z71.]

WTB = Want To Buy
WTS = Want To Sell
WTT = Want To Trade
TTT = To The Top (Used to "bump" threads "to the top" of the thread list)
FTW = For The Win

There is also a list of trim packages that came on the Tahoes and Yukons.

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin (GM amendments/updates to service procedures, issues)
VIN = Vehicle ID #

AFAIK = "As far as I know"

This I also found embedded in a post, helpful for the weird things that only nerds know off-hand tongue.gif http://www.netlingo.com/acronyms.php

This is all I can think of for now, if anyone has any I missed post them here and I'll edit until I lose permission. This is not an exhaustive list, and was made from memory as well as copying and pasting from other posts I found randomly and very quickly. Hope this helps some of you.

Oh, and this probably belongs under "FAQs" but I don't have permission to post in that topic...

Neat idea! I'd also like to add RPO- Regular Production Order. These are the 3 digit codes (found on a sticker in the glove box) GM uses to tell which options are on a specific vehicle- ex. LS1 or Z71.
